Sign up and log in

To work with ChurchDesk, you need a user account. This is created by your church – you cannot register yourself. In this article, we’ll show you how to log in for the first time, how to access your account in the future, and what to do if you forget your password.

Note: This article is for users. If you want to invite new users yourself, please read this guide: Users and roles


First login – by invitation only

Before you can log in to ChurchDesk, your user account must be created by an organisation administrator in your church.

This is how the invitation works:

  • The admin creates your account and enters your email address.
  • You will receive an invitation email with a personal link.
  • Click the link in the email.
  • Set your password – done!


Important: You cannot log in without this invitation email. First and last names are optional – but the email address is mandatory.



Logging in with an existing account

Once your account has been created, you can log in at any time:

Direct login link: https://app.churchdesk.com

  • Enter your email address and password.
  • Click “Log in”.
  • If you keep the window open, you will stay logged in for 7 days. After that, you’ll be automatically logged out and need to log in again.


Tip: You can be logged in on multiple devices (e.g. laptop & smartphone) at the same time. The login process is the same everywhere.


Forgot your password?

If you forgot your password, you can easily reset it:

  • Click “Forgot your password?” in the login area.
  • Enter your email address in the new window.
  • You’ll receive an email with a reset link.
  • Click the link and create a new password.

Password requirements

Your password must contain:

  • at least 8 characters
  • one uppercase letter
  • one lowercase letter
  • one number


Common login issues

If you can’t log in, check the following:

  • Is your email address correct? Typos are common.
  • Is your password correct?
  • Have you received and accepted the invitation?
  • Has your email address been blocked?


→ If a ChurchDesk email was marked as spam, the address may be blocked in the system. In this case, please contact support.

SSO Login (Single Sign-On)

Some dioceses and churches use central SSO login:

  • Diocese of Mainz, Diocese of Fulda, Kurhessen-Waldeck:

→ A logo appears under the login field. Click it to log in via the central system.

  • EKiR pilot churches:

→ Login for some pilot congregations is only possible via the church portal, not directly via ChurchDesk.


Access to multiple churches

Are you part of several churches?

With one login, you can access all churches you belong to – as long as the same email address was used in all invitations. This is very useful if you’re active in multiple churches.

In the top left corner, you’ll see which church you’re currently working in and can switch between them.
