Adding and editing text
To add text to the website, you use a Text module. You can add it by selecting "Text" under the "Text and Structure" category when you choose "Add module".
Edit the text by double-clicking on the existing text to go directly to the text editor. When you edit text in the Text module, the text editor appears directly above the text. The text editor offers you numerous options for designing and formatting the text on your website.
- Magic Wand AI: Use the AI magic wand to automatically correct, rewrite, or shorten your text, which saves you time and effort in text creation.
- Global Text Styles: Choose from your predefined global text styles to ensure a consistent design across the entire website.
- Text Properties: Adjust text properties like H1, H2, H3, or paragraphs (P) to improve the hierarchical structure of your content, which promotes readability and search engine optimization. More on this below.
- More (Three Dots): The three dots give you access to advanced formatting options to customize and perfect your text locally.
- Bold/Italic/Underline: Highlight important words or sentences by formatting them as bold, italic, or underlined to draw readers' attention.
- Text Color: Change the text color to create contrasts or visually highlight important information.
- Remove Formatting: Quickly remove all formatting from a highlighted text section to create a clean and standardized starting point.
- Text Alignment: Align your text to the left, right, center, or justified to optimize its visual appearance.
- Global Data: Insert dynamic information like the congregation name or address using the globe icon, so that this data automatically updates across the entire website when changed. More on this below.
- Links: Link text to internal pages, external URLs, email addresses, or files to make your content more interactive and guide visitors through your website.
- Icon: Insert symbols or icons into the text to increase visual appeal and clarity.
- Table: Structure complex information clearly in a table to make data easily comparable and improve readability.
- List: Create ordered lists with numbers to display step-by-step instructions or a ranking.
- Bulleted List: Use bullet points to present unstructured points or features clearly and concisely.
Embedding Global Data in Text
Adding information from Global Data to a text block is easy and ensures that your company information is always up-to-date everywhere on your website. To insert Global Data into your text, click the globe icon in the text editor, select Insert, and choose the corresponding information from the dropdown menu.
The relevant information from Global Data is automatically inserted into your paragraph via a Global Data tag and dynamically updated when you change the corresponding content in Global Data. For example, if you use the [company_name] tag, the editor automatically pulls your congregation's name from Global Data. If you then change the name in Global Data, this will be reflected immediately in the text where you inserted the tag. Republish the page for these changes to become visible online.
Tips for Search Engine Optimization
For search engine optimization and accessibility, it is important to set the text properties specifically for the main heading.
- H1 : The main heading (h= headline). Most important to use on every subpage, but use it only once per subpage.
- H2, H3, H... : Subordinate important headings. Not strictly necessary to define them, but advantageous, especially for accessibility. Can be used multiple times each. Comparable to a structure in a table of contents.
- P : Paragraph / text block.
Editing the Module Design
Hover your mouse over the module -> click on Module -> click on the pencil icon -> select an option from the menu. Here you can, among other things, change the background, border, and spacing for the module.
- Background: Change the background of your module to either a color or an image.
- Border: Add a border around your text and set the style, width, radius, and color.
- Spacing: Add space either between your text and the module border (padding) or outside the module (margin).
