Insert pdf or word file on your website

Want to easily provide documents like meeting minutes, handouts, or summaries on your website? In this article, we'll show you two common methods for embedding PDF or Word files for download on your website: either as a simple text link or as a button.

How to add a file as a text link on your website

  1. Go to the text module where you want to insert the file, and double-click the text module.
  2. Select the text that should be used as a link, e.g., "Minutes of the last Parish Council meeting."
  3. Click the Link icon in the toolbar. Select "Link."

  1. Then select Link Target "File," then click "Add or drop image" and choose the desired file from your computer's desktop. You can also drag & drop the file into the gray-highlighted field. Choose whether the file should open in the same tab or a new tab.

  1. Click "Insert."
  2. Finish by saving.

How to add a file to the website via a button

  1. Double-click the desired button module (more about this here) on your website to open the editing options.
  2. In the editing window, navigate to "Content" and then to "Link".
  3. Under "Link Type", select the option "File".
  4. Now you can add your file:
  • Upload a new file: Select a file directly from your computer. Click "Add file" or drag & drop the file into the gray-highlighted field.
  • Select from file library: Use a file from your File Manager that you have already uploaded in the editor.
  1. Choose whether the file should open in the same window or a new window.
  2. Confirm your changes by clicking the green checkmark "Save".
