Creating a Worship overview

The Worship Overview feature in the ChurchDesk Calendar allows you to display selected events – such as services or other activities – in a clear and visually appealing format. It's perfect for sharing information with your congregation, for example, on a notice board or as a printed handout.

The service schedule pulls all its data directly from the ChurchDesk calendar and can be downloaded as a Word document (.docx) for easy editing and printing.

The quality of the overview depends on how well your calendar events are maintained.

How to find the feature

Navigate to:

Calendar > Reports > Worship Overview

How the Worship Overview works

  1. Set your filters:

Select the time period and the types of content you'd like to include in your overview.

You can filter by:

  • Date range
  • Categories
  • Location(s)
  • Visibility
  • Assigned users (e.g. priest)

  1. Display results:

Click “Get results” to preview all events that match your filters.

  1. Print the Worship Overview
  • After you have set a default (Set default)
  • and set filters for desired dates,
  • click on "Print Service Schedule": The document will be downloaded as a .docx file and can be opened, edited, or printed directly.

If the download does not start automatically:

  • Check if a pop-up blocker is active.
  • Check the browser settings.
  • Close the browser and open ChurchDesk again.
  • Try with a different browser.

Set template as default:

After you have clicked on "Get results", "Manage templates" and "Print Service Schedule" are available to you.

To set a default,

  • you need the "Book and Plan" permission in the calendar

  1. Click on "Manage templates" and select a pre-set template
  2. Click on "Action" and "Customize as new template"
  3. Here you can select which information you want to output by default, e.g.:

  • Parish
  • Short name of the Parish
  • Location names
  • Pastor / Celebrant
  • Contributors
  • Short description
  • Intentions
  • Price
  • Collection purpose
  • Name of the liturgical day

  1. Enter a new name and save it.
  2. Then click again into your new template and select it as "Default". Now this will be selected for "Print Service Schedule" in the future.

Excel export

The Excel export is more suitable for internal purposes as it is not formatted.

  1. First filter for dates, as described above
  2. Adjust columns: At the top right, you can determine which columns should be displayed in the view and included in an Excel export (e.g., title, location, time, contributors).

Good to know:

  • Printing is not done directly from ChurchDesk – it happens after downloading the file in Word or another editing tool.
  • The Worship Overview is designed for public use – such as posting on a church notice board, distributing as a flyer, or attaching as a PDF in your newsletter.
  • This feature does not replace calendar entries – it only formats and displays them in a presentable way.
