# How to insert a file in a newsletter

## How to insert a file in a newsletter

Remember to upload the file to your ChurchDesk file archive first. [See instructions here.](/en/article/files-s86qnz/)

1.  Go to the newsletter where you want to insert the file and click in the text box area to edit. 
2.  Select the piece of text you want to link to, e.g. "Protocol from the last parish council meeting" and then click the link icon:

3. Find the file by clicking "Choose" and type the name of the file. Select it from the list when it appears:

 Alternatively, you can also type the URL of the file under "Link URL", which you can get from the file under "Groups" > "Files" by clicking on the file and copying the link.

4.  You can choose whether to open the file in the same window or in a new one
5.  Finally, click the blue "paste" button
6.  Finish by saving the newsletter
